STAYSTONG-UKRAINE

It is a story of family and community!

"The pain of helplessly watching this human tragedy unfolding in front of our eyes was so intense that my family and I started to look for options to help and channel our worries into action. In a couple of days after February 24, we created a website with a few options to donate money to some vetted non-for-profit organizations for people who wanted to help and support Ukrainians in their fight for democracy. StayStrong-Ukraine.com was launched and continues attracting visitors from all over the world." – Nataliya

THE WEBSITE

The original website includes links to organizations that I personally knew had the integrity and means to offer direct support for families and communities directly effected in the Ukraine.

Donations can still be made using these links which are located on the homepage.

RIBBONS OF SUPPORT

The project started one evening in our kitchen and grew. Members of local Senior Centers and churches volunteered to help. Creating the ribbons fosters our own feeling of community. When we see someone wearing the ribbon, it inspires a feeling of solidarity.

Every penny of the money donated helps provide vital practical and medical supplies – and help Ukrainian families who have had to leave everything behind.

The ribbons are usually on sale at booths/counters in churchs, synagogues, small businesses, weekend rally booths and civic centers throughout Litchfield and New Fairfield Counties.

A PERSONAL NOTE

The invasion of Ukraine hit my family hard and deep. Our reaction was a need to take action. The idea of simply sitting and watching the news, or calling our Ukrainian relatives – just was not enough.

Not knowing exactly what to do, we try things – and will continue to try more things – to help family and friends in the country of our birth.

The response, compassion and encouragement of our friends, local communities, businesses and organizations has been heartening, inspiring and reaffirming to the fact that we all understand and support a notion of God-given rights, freedoms and humanity. Thank you all!
